Carrie Newdigger, Teacher, Kansas
Journey 2050 allows my students to immerse themselves in the agriculture experience (virtually) and learn that farming is not just “planting a seed and letting it grow!” (as some tend to believe). This career involves and requires a knowledge about chemistry, nutrition, engineering, economics, math, and technology….not an easy career path. By incorporating Journey 2050 into my classroom, my kids see all that farmers are doing to be good stewards of the land as well as covering key science concepts. Awesome program!

It has been a good program during the Covid shut down.

This experience was a wonderful way to expose my students to sustainability. I have students that had never been exposed to the content so it was interesting and eye opening for them. They learned about new careers they may be interested in in the near future!

Once we added Farmer 2050 to the student iPads, serious discussions on the merits of irrigation and the mathematical breakdown of french toast vs blueberry pancakes were popping up in all of the other classes. It also prompted discussions of stock market crashes and the impact to their communities. The full game has a lot to offer academically. The Journey 2050 is good for younger students but at the high school level there is a lot to dig in to with the Farmers 2050 game.

I have enjoyed it and my students get really into it, even if they are whining about it before we begin. It’s pretty cool.

Anna Lukert, Teacher, Kansas, USA
Journey 2050 is an effective way for my students to learn about the importance of sustainably feeding the world population of over 9 billion people by the year 2050. My students really enjoy the game and have a more thorough understanding of concepts like essential plant nutrients, the vitality of water, and the challenge of predicting market prices for your crops.

Marianne Nelson, Teacher, Australia
This is such an engaging way for students to really grapple with big picture concepts that are so important for the future. The game is icing on the cake, it is great to see the learning happening, that the students don’t even notice they are doing!

Gary Webb, Teacher, NSW Australia
Although we are in NSW, Australia, all of the content in the program was completely relevant. The students loved learning through the game and the worksheets were easy to deliver by an online format such as Google Classroom.
