Transporting Farm Animals
Caring for animals during transportation is just as important as caring for them on the farm.
How can I be sure animals are being transported humanely?
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency oversees the humane transportation of animals in Canada. Every person responsible for transporting animals in Canada must ensure that the entire transportation process including loading, transit, and unloading animals doesn’t cause injury, pain, or suffering. It’s illegal to do anything that would cause pain and suffering to an animal at any point in the transportation process – and could result in a fine and/or jail sentence!
